Gentlevan Removals covers Towcester, Silverstone and the NN12 villages. We are a family-run firm, moving households since 2011, working from our own yard and containerised storage at Sibford Gower near Banbury. Our own crews, our own vehicles and our own storage, which means the people who quote your move are the people who turn up and do it. Every crew member is directly employed and DBS-checked, and we are Move Assured and AIM accredited.
Towcester itself is easy ground to work in, and it is worth saying so. On most addresses we put the vehicle outside and get straight on with it. Out in the villages we look at the access at the survey and put the right vehicle and the right size of crew on the job, which is the whole reason for surveying it first rather than pricing it off a form.
A Towcester job might be a one-bedroom flat, a five-bedroom house with a piano in it, or a full container load bound for Spain. It is the same firm either way: packing, containerised storage, piano removals, long-distance UK and European removals are all our own crews and our own vehicles.
Almost everything that goes wrong on a moving day was decided weeks earlier, by somebody guessing instead of looking. We survey first, put the plan in writing, and then the same people carry it out. That is most of what you are buying:
From a one-bedroom flat to a five-bedroom house out towards Greens Norton, the service is put together around the job rather than sold as a fixed package:
Towcester is inside our 30-mile local radius from Banbury, so it is priced as a local move rather than with a long travel charge added on. The figures below are genuine starting prices, not teaser rates, and they include the vehicle, the crew and standard moving equipment.
| Property Size | Typical Volume | Local Move From |
|---|---|---|
| 1 to 2 bed flat or small house | up to 25 m³ | from £750 |
| 3-bed house | 25 to 35 m³ | from £1,440 |
| 4-bed house | 35 to 50 m³ | from £1,950 |
| 5-bed and larger | 50 m³ and up | from £2,500 |
Starting prices for local moves within 30 miles of Banbury, excluding VAT, including vehicle, crew, fuel and standard equipment (blankets, covers, straps, dollies, wardrobe boxes). Book a video survey for a precise written quote.
By the time the day comes the survey is long done and you already have the written plan, so nothing below should be a surprise. A 3-bedroom move in Towcester runs across two days if you have booked our packing service, packing on the first and moving on the second, or a single day if you are packing yourself.
The crew arrive, walk the house with you, and lay carpet and floor protection along the route out. Doorframes and banisters get padded where the carry is tight.
Beds and wardrobes come apart, fixings are bagged and labelled, and furniture goes under blankets and covers as it is loaded. Cartons get marked with the room they came out of, and the load itself is built for weight and fit so nothing moves on the road.
Protection goes down at the new house first, then cartons go to the rooms marked on them and furniture is put back together. Beds are usually built first so there is somewhere to sleep.
We walk the house with you, take the wardrobe boxes and protection away, and check nothing is still on the vehicle.
Bigger homes, long-distance moves and anything with an awkward access plan run on a tailored schedule. That might include a separate packing day, a preload at your house the afternoon before, or unloading on the following day. Whatever the shape, you get it in writing before you book.
Towcester is a Roman town, Lactodorum, built on Watling Street, and the line of that old road still explains where everything sits: villages strung along it to the south-east, and others scattered up the lanes to the west.
Straightforward. On most central addresses the vehicle goes outside and the carry is short, which is the single biggest thing that keeps a moving day on schedule.
Circuit-side villages a few miles south-west. Straightforward to work in most of the year, but worth checking the racing calendar before fixing a date: a Grand Prix weekend turns the local roads into something else entirely.
Blakesley, Abthorpe, Slapton, Wappenham, Woodend and Litchborough. Stone cottages, narrow lanes and gravel drives. This is the side of Towcester nearest to us, and the same lanes we already use for Brackley jobs.
Paulerspury, Potterspury, Yardley Gobion, Grafton Regis, Alderton and Old Stratford, strung along the old road down towards Milton Keynes. Easy access from the main road, though the village streets themselves are often single-file with parking on both sides.
Stoke Bruerne and Shutlanger, up by the Grand Union canal. Both are on our normal working ground and priced as local moves.
Deanshanger sits right on the Buckinghamshire boundary and Old Stratford runs into Stony Stratford. We work both sides of that line, so a move from a Northamptonshire address to a Buckinghamshire one is a single local job, not two.
The A43 is the road that matters for us. It runs south-west from Towcester to Brackley and on to junction 10 of the M40 at Ardley, and north-east towards Northampton and the A14. That is the route our vehicles take, and it is why Towcester and Brackley sit on the same working corridor for us. Watling Street, the A5, runs north-west towards Weedon and south-east towards Old Stratford and Milton Keynes.
People moving into Towcester tend to come from Milton Keynes, Northampton and London, usually for the same reasons: a market town rather than a new city, a school catchment, and a commute that still works. People moving out are most often going further into the countryside, or abroad.
Chains break and completion dates slip. When they do, the useful thing is a mover who also has the store, so nobody is standing in a driveway working out where the load goes.
Your belongings go into sealed, numbered containers at our own yard. It is the same crews who did the move, one booking, one inventory and one number to call. You do not drive your own things over and you do not carry them in yourself, which is the real difference between this and a self-storage unit.
The first month is free on qualifying local moves. After that it is a straightforward weekly or monthly rate, and there is no minimum term dressed up as a discount. Full detail is on our storage page.
This is the part most local removal firms hand to somebody else. We do not. We run our own vehicles to Spain, France, Portugal, Italy, Belgium, Switzerland, Monaco and Gibraltar.
More than 200 reviews and a 5-star average, from real moves rather than a curated selection. You can read more on our testimonials page.
Starting from £750 for a 1 to 2 bedroom flat and from £1,440 for a 3 bedroom house, excluding VAT, for local moves within 30 miles of Banbury. Towcester falls inside that radius. Those figures include the vehicle, the crew and standard moving equipment. Volume, access at both ends and any packing you ask us to do all move the final figure, so the only accurate number is a written quote after a survey. A video survey takes about fifteen minutes on your phone.
Our yard is at Sibford Gower, west of Banbury, and the run to Towcester is on the A422 and A43 through Brackley. Those are roads we work every day, so a Towcester job is an ordinary working day for us rather than a special trip. Towcester is inside our 30-mile local radius, which means it is priced as a local move and there is no travel time loaded into your quote.
Yes. Silverstone, Whittlebury, Greens Norton, Blakesley, Abthorpe, Slapton, Wappenham, Tiffield, Paulerspury, Potterspury, Yardley Gobion, Stoke Bruerne, Shutlanger, Litchborough, Pattishall, Deanshanger and Old Stratford are all normal working ground for us. We check the access at the survey and put the right vehicle and crew on the job, so a village address is priced the same way as one in town.
In Towcester itself, usually right outside. On most addresses the vehicle goes on the road by the door. Anywhere the approach is tight we look at it during the survey and send a vehicle that suits, which is why we would rather see the place first than take your word for the width of the drive.
Yes. Your belongings go into sealed, numbered containers at our own store and come out when your new place is ready. Local moves currently include one month of free storage on qualifying jobs. It is the same crews, one booking, one inventory and one number to call, and you never have to drive your own things over or carry them in yourself.
Either, or a mix. A full packing service means we pack the whole house, usually the day before. Partial packing means we do the breakables, the kitchen, the glassware and the electronics, and you do the clothes and books. Or you pack everything yourself and we simply move it. Furniture travels under padded blankets and sofa and mattress covers as standard whichever option you pick. Anything beyond that, including export wrapping, is specified at the survey.
Yes. Uprights, grands, safes, gun cabinets, garden statuary and large pieces of stone or oak furniture are all things we handle regularly, with the right equipment and enough crew on the job. Tell us at the survey so the right kit and the right number of people are booked. More on our piano removals page.
Yes, and it is a large part of what we do. We run our own vehicles to Spain, France, Portugal, Italy, Belgium, Switzerland, Monaco and Gibraltar on both shared and dedicated loads, and we handle the customs paperwork. If the property abroad is not ready we can hold the load in our own store until it is. See our European removals pages.

Family-run since 2011. Move Assured and AIM accredited.
Every move we carry out around Towcester is treated the way we would want our own handled. The standard does not change with the size of the job: a studio flat gets the same protection and the same care as a five-bedroom house.
We ask for feedback after every move and publish what comes back, good and bad. It is the only honest way to show what we are actually like to work with.
Our shared load service to Europe fills space that would otherwise travel empty, which is why it costs less and why it makes sense. Our wardrobe boxes and blankets are reused, not thrown away after one job, and we plan routes to avoid running vehicles half loaded.
None of that is a marketing position. It is simply how a family firm keeps its costs and its waste down.
We are members of Move Assured and AIM, the Association of Independent Movers, and we work to their standards. Our 5-star Google rating comes from more than 200 verified reviews.
