Online video survey - Gentlevan Removals

At Gentlevan Removals, we believe that you can't build a great building on a weak foundation and cannot have a successful house removal without a detailed pre-move survey. While we also do in-person visits, we also recognise the benefits of time-saving methods, and that is why we offer our clients the possibility of using the online video survey. This convenient service is particularly beneficial for international moves as well!

To ensure a fair quote based on your video, we have put together a few tips for an accurate online survey:

  1. Before proceeding, ensure you have a smartphone or tablet available. However, it's essential to check beforehand how to operate the camera on the back of the device.
  2. Upon entering a room, gently move the camera from one side to the other, and if possible, verbally identify the items. This way, we can create an inventory of the belongings that require transportation. Please note that anything not clearly visible or unclear in the video will not be included in the quote and may result in additional costs on the final invoice. Minor discrepancies, however, should not pose any issues.
  3. Make sure the property has adequate lighting, and ensure that any curtains or blinds are drawn to enhance the clarity of your video.
  4. Ensure you have connected your phone to wifi, so there won't be any interruption during the online survey. In the garden or garage, the signal can be much weaker. If the video quality is not good enough, we will ask you to send us additional footage of the outside items.
  5. Ensure that no background noise will prevent our surveyor from understanding your messages.
  6. If you are sending video files instead of an online video survey, we recommend sending them on WhatsApp. This is the easiest way to send videos online without knowing how to convert videos to smaller sizes, set online permissions, and spend a long time uploading videos and trying many unsuccessful attempts. You can also make shorter clips ensuring the easiest transfer method.
  7. If any item is not going, please mention it when you show the things on the video.
  8. Even if you don't opt for our packing service, it's important for us to see the contents inside your cupboards and wardrobes. This allows us to accurately calculate the number of boxes and wardrobe boxes required to transport your hanging clothes on the moving day. Rest assured, we provide plastic reusable wardrobe boxes at no additional cost, and we'll take them away at the end of the moving day. However, if you prefer to keep the wardrobe boxes, we can provide cardboard wardrobe boxes, and their cost will be included in the quotation.

Answer the following questions:
  1. Your full name and contact details, full collection address including the postcode, and the whole drop-off address.
  2. When would you like the removal to take place? Is there a set or an estimated moving date? Have you exchanged contracts?
  3. Are you involved in a chain?
  4. Tell us about the access and parking situation at both properties (i.e. first floor, lift or stairs, pay and display parking)
  5. Do you require a packing service from us (usually done the day before the removal for properties larger than one bedroom)?

After the video survey, we will carefully evaluate the information and provide you with a no-obligation quote for your move within 24 hours. Please note that depending on the number of surveys requested, our response can be delayed. However, this shouldn't take more than 48 hours as we aim to provide our clients' quotes within the shortest possible time frame.
