Gentlevan's containerised storage uses 250 cubic foot wooden storage containers kept inside our secure warehouse in Banbury, Oxfordshire. Your items are carefully wrapped and packed by our team at your property, loaded directly into the containers on our vehicle, then sealed and transported to our warehouse. This method reduces unnecessary handling and keeps your furniture and personal belongings clean, dry and well protected throughout the storage period. As a guide, a typical three-bedroom house fills around five containers.

It's a practical solution for a wide range of situations: a gap between completion dates, a renovation or refurbishment, downsizing and needing time to decide what to keep, or returning from abroad to a home that isn't ready yet. It's also commonly used by customers relocating to Spain, France or Italy who need their UK belongings held securely while their overseas home is prepared.

As long as you need — from a few days between completion dates to several months while overseas arrangements are finalised. There's no fixed minimum or maximum. We currently offer 1 month of free storage on qualifying moves, after which storage is charged on a monthly basis per container. If your plans change, just let us know and we'll work around it.

Yes — this is one of the most common reasons customers use our storage. International moves to Spain, France, Italy and Germany frequently involve timing uncertainty: property purchases overrun, rental contracts start later than planned, or customs processes take longer than expected. Access is possible but needs to be arranged in advance — containerised storage is designed for secure, efficient storage rather than regular drop-in access. The containers are packed tightly to maximise space and kept in allocated areas of our warehouse. Yes — for safety and insurance reasons, we cannot store hazardous or prohibited items such as chemicals, explosives, gas bottles, fuel, or flammable liquids. We also advise against storing perishable items (food, plants, organic materials) and recommend keeping valuables such as cash, jewellery, passports and important documents with you rather than placing them into storage.

Storage insurance is usually arranged separately and is strongly recommended, particularly for long-term storage or higher-value items. We can advise on the options available. It's also worth checking your home insurance policy as some include limited cover during removals and short-term storage. Yes. If your needs change, you can usually increase or reduce the number of containers used, subject to availability. Storage costs are based on the number of containers and the duration, so if you no longer need as much space, we can help you reduce your costs accordingly.
